Chances are, if you’ve had a radio on today you’ve heard his guitar playing. As one of North America’s go-to guitarists, Sean Ashby has played and recorded with Sarah McLachlan, Delirium, Ginger (former Grapes Of Wrath), and many more. Ashby, is a singer /songwriter/guitarist/producer who released his debut album “Brass and Gold” on Black Sparrow/Universal in April of 2008.
Brass and Gold, Sean’s first solo outing after 10 years as leader of the award winning band Jack Tripper, was an eclectic record which showcased an impressive musical palette. The album received favorable reviews in important Canadian publications such as Exclaim magazine and the Vancouver Province, and received airplay on college radio and across the country on CBC radio.
McLachlan’s guitarist on the original Lilith Fair, as well as the Mirrorball and Afterglow albums, Ashby appeared with her on “Just Like You (Cats In The Cradle)” for D from Run DMC’s solo CD. Also with Sarah, he received two 4 x platinum US discs and one diamond Canadian disc for studio and live CD’s. He has appeared on the Grammy Awards twice, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno five times, SNL and David Letterman three times, as well as other major TV shows. When asked about his hopes for his solo future Sean says “ I am working at building an audience for my music, playing shows and improving as a songwriter and performer.” Since Brass and Gold’s release last year, Sean has been touring relentlessly, performing over 200 shows across Canada, and somehow squeezing in two tours with Delirium as well. He’s making new fans , and being asked to return everywhere he goes.
His album “24 Hours of Daylight” , showcases Sean’s guitar skills and earthy vocals on a new set of strong tunes with a rootsy bent. This record also features his amazing technique on lap steel guitar, a highlight of his live shows.
Catch Sean’s 1 man band show – 6 guitars onstage with beats and bass- touring full time across North America each year.
A native west Texan, Jim Milam was born in Odessa Texas, grew up in Monahans, and now calls Fort Stockton home. His early influences were bands like Three Dog Night, Grassroots, and Bread.
Being a fan of diverse genres of music provided Jim a broad range of musical ideas and appreciation. Like most musicians, Jim began learning and honing his skills by playing cover songs, but what always seemed most important was writing his own songs.
Jim played in many bands growing up with his brothers and many good friends, bands like Revolver, 3D, Avatar, Sweet Briar and The Hit. But for the last 20 years, he has played with Bart Reid and George Treadaway in the Thumpin Puppies.
Jim’s passion has always been music. His debut solo album “Life”, which was released in August of 2016, was a dream he worked on for many years, and showcases his poetic lyrics and unique voice. The album can’t be labeled with one genre, spanning pop, rock and even easy listening. He is currently in the studio working on his second album.
“Music is the one thing that people from all walks of life have in common. It is the soother of souls to the fever of emotions. Let it be what it is for you – and enjoy the ride. Happiness is the key to living life to the fullest.”
